Fans went nuts when Taylor Swift gave a sweet shoutout to her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, during her show in New Orleans on night one.
Taylor, 34, was in the middle of her performance of “Midnight Rain” when she pretended to throw a football to the crowd, a nod to Travis’ NFL career, on Friday, October 25.
“He never thinks of me / except when I’m on TV,” the Miss Americana star sang before tossing the imaginary football in a clip shared by a fan in the crowd.
This was just one of the moves she’s done during the dance break at this particular part of her Eras concert. Swifties have also seen her pretending to shoot an arrow, busting out similar dance moves to Travis, 35, when he scores a touchdown and making a heart with her hands.
Of course, Taylor changing up small details of her show is nothing new. Since she and Travis began dating in the summer of 2023, the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer has given subtle nods to her favorite man. In November 2023, Taylor changed up the lyrics to her song “Karma” while performing in Argentina as the Super Bowl champ watched from the crowd.
“Karma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me,” Taylor sang at the November 11, 2023 show. She changed the original lyric of “guy on the screen,” a reference to her ex Joe Alwyn, to reflect Travis’ football team.
The lovebirds’ relationship has delighted fans worldwide as the Grotesquerie star and Taylor have been open about their romance, a big change from the “Blank Space” artist’s past relationships. Taylor discussed her decision to be more open about her love life when she was named Time’s Person of the Year in December 2023.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves,” the Grammy winner explained. “We’re showing up for each other. Other people are there and we don’t care.”
She continued, “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And [Travis and I are] just proud of each other. Life is short. Have adventures. Me locking myself away in a house for a lot of years, I’ll never get that time back. I’m more trusting now than I was six years ago.”
Taylor was notoriously private while dating Joe, 33. The former couple dated for six years, and they were rarely seen in public together.
However, because Taylor and Travis have opted to be more open with their relationship, it’s also given critics more chances to lob negativity their way. Throughout the 2023 NFL season, many football fans thought that Taylor’s presence at games was distracting. The “So High School” singer hasn’t let the scrutiny bother her.
“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” Taylor explained. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once. I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads and Chads.”
