Former NFL star Troy Aikman believes he may have inadvertently landed a major scoop as he alleged that he was told by an unnamed source that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are engaged.
The romance between the pair has been the subject of major intrigue among sports and music fans alike after they went public last September. Since then, the duo have been regular attendees at their respective commitments – with Kelce attending concerts on his chart-topper girlfriend’s world tour.
Likewise, Swift has been in position to cheer on her Kansas City Chiefs star beau on numerous occasions from the sidelines at Arrowhead Stadium. Color commentator Aikman appears to have been swept along with the mania surrounding the pair two, making reference to their relationship on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football”.
However, the three-time Super Bowl champion committed something of a faux pas as he mistakenly referred to Swift as Kelce’s “missus”, to which play-by-play announcer Joe Buck had to step in to correct him. Now, the analyst has reflected on this incident during the clash between the Chiefs and Saints.
During an appearance on Barstool’s “Pardon My Take” podcast, co-host PFT Commenter credited was effusive in his praise for Aikman’s skills on the mic but could not help making light of his recent mistake. He laughed: “Unless you make a minor mistake on the air and you accidentally say that Taylor Swift is married to Travis Kelce.”
The commentator then fired back with his own take on the matter, remarking: “Was that a big deal. Was I on a tight rope right there? This morning, I woke up and saw a headline like, ‘Aikman knew he was in trouble’ or something and I was like, ‘Gosh, if this is newsworthy … Really?”

Potentially revealing to the world what would be a massive scoop, he then referred to a conversation he had with an unknown insider on the matter, adding: “I don’t know if I cursed them or not, but somebody actually reached out to me today and said that they might actually be engaged — so, I might’ve broke the story.”
Kelce’s mom Donna previously commented on the prospect of her son and Swift getting engaged in the future, telling Page Six: “Nobody knows that. We will see what happens. You never know. I don’t give my kids advice. They have everything all settled. They’re far more able to make those decisions on their own.”
Meanwhile, the Chiefs star’s brother Jason praised the singer for the positive impact he has had on his sibling’s life on their New Heights podcast, adding: “My girl Tay is getting you opened up. She’s introducing new foods to you. It’s one of the greatest things I’ve been happy about.”
