Taylor Swift Dethrones Rihanna as the Wealthiest Female Musician with a $1.6 Billion Net Worth—How Much Higher Can It Go?

She never goes out of style.

Taylor Swift has officially surpassed Rihanna as the richest female musician in the world.

An update from Forbes revealed that Swift, 34, is now worth $1.6 billion. She reached billionaire status in October 2023 with a $1.1 billion net worth, Bloomberg reported at the time.

Meanwhile, Rihanna, 36, is currently worth $1.4 billion.

Forbes noted that Swift became a billionaire last October thanks to her massively popular Eras Tour and her music catalog. She officially made it on Forbes’ billionaires list in April 2024.

Her net worth jumped $500 million from Oct. 2023 to Oct. 2024.

The “Anti-Hero” singer has $600 million from royalties and touring while her music catalog is also worth an estimated $600 million.

Plus, Swift has an estimated $125 million in real estate holdings. She has homes in Rhode Island, New York City, Nashville and Los Angeles.

Her Eras Tour has grossed over $2 billion as of earlier this year. The tour started in March 2023 and ends in December.

Rolling Stone previously reported that the Eras Tour is the highest-selling tour worldwide. The high demand for tickets to Swift’s shows led to a congressional hearing over Ticketmaster.

The pop star has 11 studio albums, including “The Tortured Poets Department” which came out in April and broke streaming records on Spotify. She also has four rerecorded albums (“Fearless: Taylor’s Version,” “Red: Taylor’s Version,” “Speak Now: Taylor’s Version” and “1989: Taylor’s Version”) and is expected to rerecord two more albums (“Taylor Swift” and “Reputation”).

Swift’s recent success led to her being named Time’s 2023 Person of the Year.

“Nothing is permanent,” she said in her interview with the magazine last year. “So I’m very careful to be grateful every second that I get to be doing this at this level, because I’ve had it taken away from me before.”

“There is one thing I’ve learned: My response to anything that happens, good or bad, is to keep making things. Keep making art,” the “Cruel Summer” singer added.

Swift currently ranks No. 2,117 on Forbes’ list of the world’s billionaires.

Elon Musk tops that list with a $261 billion net worth. Larry Ellison, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos and Bernaud Arnault and family round out the top five.

Alice Walton, daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton, is the richest woman in the world right now. Her net worth is an estimated $90.5 billion, according to Forbes’ list.

Rihanna shows up on the list behind Swift at No. 2,337.

According to Forbes, the “Diamonds” singer’s success is thanks to her Fenty Beauty cosmetics line, worth around $2.8 billion. She co-owns the company with French luxury retailer LVMH.

In addition, Rihanna has a 28% stake in her Savage x Fenty lingerie line.

Rihanna has also made big bucks from her incredible discography, though she hasn’t released a new album since 2016’s “Anti.”

She’s been promising to release her next album for years, but she’s chosen to prioritize her booming businesses and her two children that she shares with A$AP Rocky.

One of Rihanna’s hit songs, “This Is What You Came For” with Calvin Harris, was actually written by Swift.

Rihanna previously held the title of richest female musician ever when her net worth peaked at $1.7 billion.

Both Rihanna and Swift are worth less than Jay-Z, who Forbes currently ranks as the richest musician in the world. He’s worth $2.5 billion.
