Rep. Nicole Malliotakis Brings Whoopi Goldberg’s ‘Favorite’ Cakes to Capitol After The View Host Criticizes Staten Island’s Holtermann’s Bakery

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) served up Staten Island’s finest charlotte russe cakes on Capitol Hill Wednesday in a sweet show of support for Holtermann’s Bakery – a week after Whoopi Goldberg accused the 146-year-old pastry shop of political bias.

“She claims that they would not fulfill an order of these, because of her politics. That is simply not true,” the local lawmaker said of “The View” co-host’s outrageous claim.

Malliotakis, 44, demanded a mea culpa from the far-left comedian as she encouraged hungry lawmakers and staffers to indulge in “Whoopi Goldberg’s FAVORITE” treat.

Staten Island’s Holtermann’s Bakery is located in Malliotakis’ congressional district.

“I think she should apologize. This is a small business and somebody going on national TV like that could break a business,” the congresswoman argued, describing the family-owned patisserie as “an institution on Staten Island.”

The GOP pol brought about 150 charlotte russe cakes to Washington – along with several boxes of Holtermann’s butter cookies.

The charlotte russe is a sponge cake with a layer of strawberries and another layer of whipped cream topped with a cherry.

“It’s a push pop,” Malliotakis said of the proper way to consume the treat. “You kind of push it up as you eat it and then you get to the little sponge cake at the very bottom with the strawberries.”

“It’s light, it’s fluffy, it’s good,” she added, noting that the pastry “is actually very rare” and claiming that Holtermann’s is one of the only bakeries in New York that makes them on a continual basis.

The Post spotted several members of New York’s congressional delegation stopping by Malliotakis’ dessert stand to try the cakes, including Republican Reps. Mike Lawler, Claudia Tenney, Anthony D’Esposito and Nick LaLota.

A charlotte russe was even hand-delivered to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) ahead of the event.

When a group photo was taken by a staffer, the smiling lawmakers all said “Whoopi” instead of “cheese.”

Even disgraced former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) was spotted near the cake stand, though he was not offered a treat.

“Stop eating that!” Santos jokingly chided a reporter snacking on one of the baked goods, before acknowledging: “Holtermann’s Bakery is literally the best bakery in New York City.”

Goldberg ignited a firestorm of criticism when she baselessly claimed that Holtermann’s refused to sell her the desserts to celebrate her 69th birthday – because of her “politics.”

“Now, I should tell you, charlotte russe has no political leanings, and the place that made these refused to make them for me,” the “Sister Act” star said on an episode of “The View” last week.

“They said that their ovens had gone down, all kinds of stuff, but folks went and got them anyway, which is why I’m not telling you who made them.”

“They did not like my politics,” added Goldberg, without evidence.

Whoopi Goldberg insists that Holtermann’s Bakery refused to fulfill her birthday order because if her left-wing political leanings.
Goldberg later doubled-down on the claim.

“It does seem a little odd that when we called a few weeks before my birthday and we were told they couldn’t process the order because of an equipment failure,” she said on her Instagram account over the weekend, still doubting the bakery’s explanation that their 60-year-old boiler had quit, making it impossible to guarantee that her order would be fulfilled.

“But somehow they were able to accept an order of a different 48 of the same dessert when somebody else called without using my name,” Goldberg added. “But it’s ok y’all, because I enjoyed my delicious dessert, and I had a happy, sweet birthday. Nothing better than that.”

Malliotakis insisted that the Staten Island bakery would never do such a thing to a potential customer.

“We disagree with her politics,” the Republican said. “Holtermann’s does not.”
