Prince Harry may be ineligible to visit children in US if Trump deports him on drug lie

After Donald Trump was elected as the 47th president of the US, fears arose for Prince Harry over his visa application.

An expert has stressed that Prince Harry could be prevented from seeing his children if Donald Trump goes ahead with his deportation threat.

The Duke of Sussex’s visa arrangements have been thrust back into the spotlight once again after the President-elect hinted earlier this year that he would “deport” Prince Harry out of the US “if he lied” about taking drugs in the past.

Trump’s comments come after The Heritage Foundation attempted to release Harry’s visa documents to the public after he revealed he had used substances like cocaine, smoked marijuana, and experimented with magic mushrooms as a teenager in his bombshell memoir, Spare.

However, their attempts were shot down when a US judge denied the group’s claim, concluding that Harry still “has privacy rights regarding his immigration status.”

Nevertheless, at the time Trump told the Express: “I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me.”

With this in mind, longtime California family lawyer Alphonse Provinziano has explained what complications this could cause for Harry and his family.

“Prince Harry’s children are U.S. citizens, so they have the right to stay in the country. The same applies to wife Meghan Markle,” Alphonse explained.

“Having U.S. citizen children would not automatically allow Harry to stay in the country, and misrepresenting information on a visa application could render him ineligible to visit his children in the U.S. for an extended period,” the lawyer went on.

“If it turns out that he had drug use, then Meghan could not sponsor him for legal status.

“However, if he is otherwise admissible, she could,” he went on.

Alphonse continued: “It runs back to the problem of giving up his titles, though. Once his children turn 21, they may also be able to sponsor him for legal status.

However, Alphonse pointed out that this process could present challenges due to, “the possibility that he would need to renounce his titles, something he currently seems reluctant to do.”

Despite Trump’s threats, Alphonse also told the Express US that the billionaire businessman is also highly unlikely to follow through with his plans.

Alphonse listed reasons why he believes this would be the case, saying: “He is a contributing member of society, a war veteran, and actively involved in philanthropic work. Furthermore, his personal story is inspiring, and U.S. public sentiment generally favors him.”

“It seems unlikely that President-elect Trump would prioritize his removal for political reasons, even if questions about Harry’s immigration status arise,” the legal professional added.
