MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is reportedly facing “a post-election dip in viewership” following Donald Trump’s victory.
MSNBC has lost nearly half of its audience since Election Night, with significant drops across its primetime lineup and key shows.
According to Nielsen Media Research, the network’s overall viewership has fallen 47 percent, averaging just 497,000 total-day viewers.
The decline is even more pronounced in primetime, with a 52 percent drop to 644,000 viewers.
Rachel Maddow, the network’s star host, has been notably affected.
Now broadcasting only on Monday evenings, her show recently drew 1.3 million total viewers – her lowest numbers of the year.
In a striking comparison, a late-night rerun of Ancient Aliens even outperformed her show in the key 25-54 demographic.
Other MSNBC shows have also seen significant audience losses.

Morning Joe, hosted by Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, experienced a 37 percent ratings drop after the hosts met with President-elect Donald Trump.
In contrast, Fox News has seen its ratings surge, drawing 3 million viewers and capturing 62 percent of the cable news audience in total day viewership.
A network source offered some perspective telling Independant UK: “A post-election dip in viewership was always projected and internal thinking is that it will pick up in the New Year, post-inauguration.”
After previous elections, networks have seen similar fluctuations.
Fox News experienced a major viewership decline after the 2020 election before rebounding, and MSNBC has historically recovered from previous ratings drops.
Despite the current challenges, MSNBC still maintains a larger audience than CNN, which recently recorded its lowest-rated weeks in over a decade.
