The Chiefs stars have both been targets of burglars
Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are at the heart of an FBI investigation following break-ins at their homes.
Although their celebrity status initially drew attention to the incidents, authorities have clarified that the burglaries are linked to a broader crime spree affecting the Kansas City region.
The break-ins occurred within hours of each other on October 6 and 7, with both players losing valuable items.
Among the stolen goods were Kelce’s first Super Bowl jersey, along with approximately $100,000 worth of jewelry and designer possessions from both homes.
Kelce’s residence in Leawood, Kansas, and Mahomes’ home in Belton, Missouri, were specifically targeted.
The thefts have deeply unsettled both athletes and their families, who view their homes as sanctuaries from their high-profile lives. Speaking to reporters, Mahomes expressed his frustration over the situation.

“Obviously, it’s frustrating,” Mahomes admitted. “It’s disappointing, but I can’t get into too many details because the investigation is still ongoing. It’s something that you don’t want to have happen to really anybody, but obviously yourself.”
Sources close to Kelce described the emotional toll the incidents have taken on both players.
“That was a very, very frustrating moment,” one insider shared. “Both Kelce and Mahomes got really mad it happened, and that intruders got into their properties that they consider their ‘safe-haven’ and ‘safe place.'”
The burglaries also affected Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, who was particularly shaken by the breach of privacy. “She always wants her safe space and her family and kids to be in the safest places 24/7,” the source added.

Security Upgrades Amid Growing Concerns
Kelce and Mahomes have both taken steps to enhance security at their homes following the incidents. Kelce, who moved into his $6 million Leawood mansion in late 2023, has sought additional privacy measures due to increasing media attention, particularly since his relationship with Taylor Swift became public.
Mahomes, who built his custom home in Belton in 2020, also prioritized privacy and security. The property features luxurious amenities, including a private football field and golf hole, yet the break-in highlighted vulnerabilities despite the home’s protective measures.
Kelce’s loss of his Super Bowl jersey was particularly upsetting. A source revealed, “[Taylor] felt bad for what happened despite not having many belongings there, but felt bad for her man and for the Mahomes.”
As the FBI works alongside the Cass County Sheriff’s Office to address the larger crime wave, both players are focused on ensuring their families’ safety and regaining their sense of peace at home.
