‘Tank’ will fight on March 1 and then could prepare his farewell to boxing
Gervonta Davis’ impressive boxing career with 30 fights unbeaten and 28 by knockout is about to come to an end, after ‘Tank’ himself hinted that he is tired of the sport and plans to retire in 2025.
Gervonta Davis, 30, had a fight scheduled for Dec. 14 at the Toyota Center in Houston, to defend his WBA lightweight belt against Lamont Roach Jr., 29, but it was postponed until March 1, a date that for now remains on the agenda, but at a new venue: the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. By calendar he would still have time to organize the farewell fight.

“After next year, I’m out of this… Out of the sport,” ‘Tank’ Davis said in an interview with Fight Hub TV, where he added that his decision is due to the fatigue he has for everything that surrounds his profession: “It’s garbage… This shit is garbage, garbage… Fed up. Fed up with all the shit.”
The unexpected retirement and for now everything points to the fact that he will be undefeated, is a situation that according to previous reflections of Gervonta, he is not worried that it may affect his legacy, as in a previous interview with Fight Hype, he confessed that for him he will always be the greatest
“I don’t even care about that, brother. I don’t even care about that, and where I come from, brother, I will always be the greatest. I’ll be a G for myself forever,” ‘Tank’ Davis said
Gervonta Davis accused of avoiding dangerous rivals
Bill Haney claimed in an interview with Vlad TV on YouTube that Gervonta avoids powerful opponents and downplayed the quality of Lamont Roach.
“When will they fight? I haven’t heard much about that. Have you heard much about that fight? I haven’t heard…” said Haney Sr. as he pretended to have forgotten they were going to fight and added that he doesn’t think Lamont has the quality to beat Davis, to continue with his barbs, after being reminded of ‘Tank’s’ triumph over Frank Martin: “My God, when is he going to fight someone?”.
Bill Haney added that Davis will never fight Shakur Stevenson and if it happens “It will be a good fight. I give it 50-50. I think ‘Tank’ is avoiding the real boxers. He is avoiding them for a reason,” said Bill Haney in the chat with Vlad TV.
