Taylor Swift continues to wow Us with new outfits on her Eras Tour, and her newest surprise song dress during the Friday, October 25, show was no exception.
When Swift, 34, kicked off the acoustic section at her first of three New Orleans concerts, she debuted a new high-low dress. This frock, like her versions from the Miami gigs, was multicolored. On Friday, it featured an orange bodice with an ivory and blue skirt.
Fans immediately recognized the color scheme as the same on her iconic Koi fish-printed guitar.
“Can we call this dress the Koi fish dress?!” one fan wrote via X.
Another added, “She’s a real life koi fish.”
Back during Swift’s Speak Now World Tour in 2011, the pop star strummed along to her biggest hits via a blue acoustic guitar that featured three orange fish around the sound hole.
After the Speak Now tour wrapped in 2011, the guitar was displayed at the Country Music Hall of Fame. The instrument, however, was temporarily removed in July 2023. That same month, Swift played the blue guitar during her Kansas City concert as she released Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). To commemorate the moment, Swift added “Long Live” to the setlist. (Usually during the tour, Swift just sings “Enchanted” during the Speak Now era.)
Swifties also realized that Friday’s show fell on the anniversary of Swift’s original Speak Now release. While the OG record dropped on October 25, 2010, the re-recorded version came out on July 7, 2023.
Swift did acknowledge Speak Now’s anniversary with her surprise song selections, playing tracks from Taylor Swift (her self-titled debut), Reputation, The Tortured Poets Department and Speak Now. On piano, she mashed up Speak Now’s “Haunted” with “The Black Dog,” while her guitar medley fused together “Our Song” and “Call It What You Want.”
Another one of Swift’s new looks paid homage to New Orleans itself. For her 1989 era, Swift wore a mismatched yellow and purple two-piece with green boots. The three colors align with the traditional ones associated with Mardi Gras.
